Alvin Plantinga

他於1958畢業於Yale University，曾在Wayne State University(1958-63)及Calvin College(1963-82)任教，自1982，他成為University of Notre Dame哲學系的John A. O'Brien講座教授。他在1981-82曾任American Philosophical Association西部分區主席，1983-1986年間，亦擔任他有份成立的Society of Christian Philosophers主席。

他經常為National Endowment for the Humanities主領暑期研討會，屢獲殊榮，包括Danforth Foundation的Award for Distinguished Teaching、Center for Advanced Studies in Behavioral Sciences院士、Guggenheim Foundation院士、American Academy of Arts and Sciences院士、National Endowment for the Humanities不同類別的院士、及American Council of Learned Societies院士。他亦獲Glasgow University頒發榮譽博士，被邀在美國、加拿大、英國不同大學裡的榮譽講座講授，多得不勝其數，但必須一提的是他在1987-88，曾在享負盛名的Aberdeen University的Gifford Lectures講學。

近年，他的部分作品被收輯於D. Reidel出版社的Profiles系列，書名就叫做Alvin Plantinga。Plantinga受注視的研究包括模態形而上學、本體論證、苦罪問題、宗教信念知識論，他曾著作或編輯的書包括God and Other Minds，The Nature of Necessity，及Faith and Rationality。他於哲學期刊Theoria、American Philosophical Quarterly、Philosophical Studies、Journal of Philosophy等發表的一些論文，更被視為形而上學的大師級作品。
